Asheville, N.C. - July 20, 2025 - Today, the National Women’s Soccer League Players Association (NWSLPA) releases the following statement on the racist abuse targeting Jess Carter.
"The NWSL Players Association unequivocally denounces the racist abuse
targeting Jess Carter. We stand firmly behind her decision to protect her peace, dignity, and safety while she represents her country at the UEFA Women’s European Championship. Our members are world-class professionals who deserve admiration not only for how they perform, but for how and what they carry while competing for club and country. The NWSLPA is rooted in creating a culture of accountability and respect for every player. That means not just reacting to harm, but actively confronting the systems that allow it to persist. We will not allow abuse of any kind to be normalized, minimized, or ignored."
